Describe what your experience was like this week.
It was splendid, I loved it. I thought it was so cool that we got to experience going to these different colleges. We got to go to four different universities throughout California which varied through teaching styles, locations and popular majors. I learned a bit more about myself and college. I want to go to a big university, I want the experience of meeting people from so many different backgrounds. I want a diverse school for sure. I don't mind location, I would go to the East coast if my dream school was located over there. But if I were to stay in California, I would like to stay near a beach just like UCSB. I would love a big library, I love libraries.
What differences did you notice between the different schools you visited? How has this experience changed/influenced your ideas around college?
Differences in the colleges is location and populations of the colleges. We had Santa Barbara that had 22,00 students while Merced had only 8,000 students. It was a beautiful range that I enjoyed. I did miss being from home but I never felt so desperate that I wanted to go back home. I think it was really cool being surrounded by people with different backgrounds and ethnicity. I believe that at first I’ll be terrible at taking care of myself but I’m sure overtime I’ll adjust to living by myself or other students.
What are you looking forward to the most in college?
I look forward to meeting so many different people with different backgrounds. I want to attend a diverse school. I also look forward to food, I know that a big portion of it will be cup of noodles but the food on campus was good!
What are you most concerned about for college?
I’m concerned about price. College is flipping expensive! I don’t want to drown in debt
forever but I’m hoping to get some scholarships. But other than that I don't have any worries.
Are you interested in Study Abroad?
I would love to Study Abroad, it’s such an amazing opportunity to expand your knowledge to new cultures. I would like to go to a Spanish speaking country (mostly Mexico or Spain) I stand with being Mexican but I know that I am a bit of Spaniard. I would to visit either.
Did you hear about any clubs or organizations you would be interested in joining?
I love to join a Harry Potter club or a book club. I watch this you tuber who goes to University of California Berkeley, she is apart of a Harry Potter club and I would love to be apart of. I'm sure there will be others I would like to participate in.
What type of college (or trade school) are you interested in attending?
I would very much like to go to a UC preferably Berkeley, Santa Barbara, or Los Angeles. But a dream school would be Harvard or Yale. I would have to work twice as hard as I do now to go there. But junior year I know I’ll be working twice as hard.
Do you think you will stay in-state, or go to another state/country?
I would consider both, even out of country is a totally new adventure. I have my eyes on a college in Canada called University of Toronto. I would be open to go to school in Europe but that would be expensive! For now I'm focusing myself on US schools.
